This morning Cathy and Christopher went golfing at the Federal Golf course in Canberra. It was a triple Cotton game. Simon Cotton (maybe a cousin from way, way back), joined them. They were also joined by a large number of kangaroos.
At the same time Candra, Colleen and Amy went on a hike up Red Hill and enjoyed a panoramic view of Canberra. The hill was covered with trees in bloom and flower blossoms. The abundance of rain enabled the plants to grow to their maximum. The scenery and plants are equal to the Botanical Gardens. We saw, a kangaroo, hawks, colourful parrots, cockatoos, magpies and crows cawing in their off-key Australian call.
In the afternoon Candra, Cathy, Colleen and Chris went to the Four Winds Winery for lunch and some wine tasting. On the way back we stopped at the Arboretum where we saw more stunning views of Canberra and beautiful trees.
“Prior to 2001, the Arboretum site was largely covered in pine plantations. Following the devastating bushfires in 2003, the Australian Capital Territory government determined the establishment of a national arboretum as the best future use of the land on this site. The National Arboretum Canberra is a mosaic of living forests and gardens offering breathtaking views, unique experiences, and a world-class entertainment and events. With over 44,000 rare and endangered trees across a 250-hectare site, the Arboretum is a place of beauty, conservation, science research, education, tourism and recreation.”
