29 Black Mountain

November 29, 2022

This morning was our chance to hike Black Mountain which has the Telstra Tower at the top.  Chris dropped us off at the bottom of the Mountain and it was an easy hike to the top. The flowers by the side of the trail were beautiful, so many kinds and colours. Our next destination was the National Australian Museum. We followed our GPS and walked down the mountain and on to the museum. The museum is on a peninsula jutting out into the lake. Its most striking feature is a thirty-metre high, orange ribbon that sweeps and curves over the front entrance. For many people it looks like a roller coaster, however it is called "The Uluru Line" and the end of it points in the direction of Australia's red centre. The inside of the museum was wonderful but we just didn’t have the time to see all the exhibits, due to the maze-like layout and the fact that we had just walked about 9 km. Chris picked us up and we got ready for Elizabeth’s and Kate’s highland dancing show. They did the sword dance, a quite complicated routine and did an amazing job. We stopped by the instructor’s house for some food and we were in awe of their garden. Andrew has, olives, pomegranates, apricots, lemons, limes, blueberries, cherries and 6 bee hives. He gave is a very interesting narrative on his plants, hives and some honey samples. Little Bea, in the light blue kilt on the front right, asked Cathy if she was Kate and Elizabeth's grandma. When Cathy said,"Yes", Bea wanted to know if Colleen was Cathy's Grandma.

These look so much like bugs
