14 A day in Fremantle

November 11, 2022

We started our day with a tour of the North Fremantle Social Farm where we sat some wonderful flowers and vegetable. We stopped at the rainbow Sea containers and admired the view of the port of Freemantle. We walked down the hill to the Beach Street cafĂ© for coffee and muffins. WE drove over to the Maritime Museum and attended the Remembrance day services held in front of the museum. We spent time looking at the Welcome Wall which has the names of people who immigrated to Australia through the Fremantle port. We found Veronica’s family and read their story. These brave people originated in Poland  Czekalowska and Kurak and made their was across Europe and the Middle East to finally settle in Australia.

From there we walked to the Roundhouse the first prison in Fremantle to keep order in the city, not for convicts sent from England.

We had Fish and Chips at Cicerellos and had to be very mindful of the hungry seagulls.

We walked to the Freemantle Market and I saw so many lovely example of Australian arts and crafts. After an ice-cream we paid our respects at the hilltop Fremantle war memorials.
